Bad Unicorn (once Drunken Apostles) is the creation and partnership of a group of designers and developers that bring passion, knowledge and expertise to the field of entertainment, advertising and design. Bad Unicorn first started as an online identity to showcase creative, artistic and experimental projects in the form of online sites, games and apps. In 2011, they officially expanded into more diverse partnerships and ventures with agencies and studios. Through this partnership we are able to create out of the box branding and capture audiences with creative designs and interactive experiences.
Omelet came to Bad Unicorn to handle the concept and design of the Zhuniverse… the world of the Zhu Zhu Pets. We were tasked with creating an interactive world for kids to be able to explore the various product lines within the Zhuniverse, as well as developing games and content for the various segments of the campaign. The deliverables ranged from simple puzzles and games to a full blown 3D exploratory environment.
The average time spent per visit to the site was a whopping 12 minutes!
Zack Snyders foray into the comic book world continued with the Watchmen… a film many have dubbed as impossible to film. Warner Brothers requested several pieces of content to showcase the incredible world created by Dave Gibbons and Allan Moore. The various site concepts were to introduce the various characters of the Watchmen and bring the users straight into their world through as much eye candy as possible. The various aspects of the campaign included the Teaser Site, the Official Movie Site and the Video Game Site.
The campaign was nominated for a Key Art Award in 2010.
Go Green! Help save the planet! The Nature Conservancy wanted to bring awareness to rainforest of Brazil without creating a doom and gloom feel to the campaign. The response? A bright and vibrant site with beautiful close up shots of saplings and colorful content modules. It’s main purpose… to make people feel good about donating to help save the rain forests.
5,548,109 trees and counting.
We have been lucky enough to work with some amazing studios and brands over the years and look forward to adding more to our roster of fans. This is just the beginning.
Complete branding package was created for the online shop for the Brothers Ink… a creator friendly company that's sole purpose is to promote local artists through apparel design. A logo, and e-commerce experience was created for the company.
Sega requested a print campaign that spanned across into packaging and online through a Rich Media campaign that brought the two classic video game characters to life.
The Computers are taking over! An air desktop application was designed to simulate a network of computers taking over your system in the guise of information analysis. Snippets of video were periodically revealed throughout the experience giving the user glimpses into the world of Skynet.
This application was one of the first desktop air apps to be developed.
Looking to hire someone for some awesome creative projects... look no further. Bad Unicorn is here to help. Shoot us an email, walk on in, or give us a ring and we'll be happy to help you... or at least show you super bad @$$ pictures of Heavy Metal Unicorns!
Twentieth Century Fox requested a unique online campaign that allowed viewers to immerse themselves into the world of Avatar. What was developed was an interactive trailer (the first of it's kind) that allowed users to explore the many aspects of Avatar by exploring behind the scene footage of a particular scene.
An added feature was the aggregation of everything Avatar. The desktop app allowed you to filter content from the web that pertained to the movie.
Contracted by Activision, through Soap, a request for a fullscreen experience that showcased it's latest Spider-Man video game title was delivered. This particular experience required four different styles of art to seemlessly blend into one user experience that also highlighted the different styles of gameplay.
“They Came from Dimension 33!” Cepia’s newest toy line aimed at little boys ages 9-13. These balls are sure to grab anyone’s attention!
A complete interactive branding campaign was created to market this product line. Full product catalog with user registration, ball code entries and a collection system to keep track of all of the hundreds of balls available.
